Abstract Abstract In Brief In Brief Favorites PDF Get Content & Permissions Abstract: In Brief: Surgery for primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is recommended for all symptomatic patients and select asymptomatic patients meeting established consensus criteria. We studied 3388 patients with biochemically confirmed PHPT within a large, integrated health delivery system. Half of symptomatic patients and less than half of asymptomatic patients meeting consensus criteria were treated surgically.
