In Brief:
This study details the nutritional assessment on a patient population with Barrett esophagus to screen the metabolic syndrome and to measure adipokines and cytokines that may have relevance to inflammation and tumor development. We report a high prevalence of obesity and metabolic syndrome in an unselected cohort, and an association among central adiposity, metabolic syndrome, and the adipocytokine profile and length of Barrett esophagus, suggesting a potentially important pathway in the progression of Barrett.
