Ever since the publication of the Institute of Medicine report, Crossing the Quality Chasm, there has been growing political will in the United States to improve the quality of health care. The United States'cultural and political atmosphere, however, will require increasing the involvement of the private sector in promoting health care quality if we hope to truly transform our health care system.
