August Issue and Journal Club
The August, 2013 issue of Annals of Surgery includes 2 feature articles with accompanying editorials, 1 review, 3 randomized controlled trials, 1 systematic review, and 18 additional original articles. The first feature reports on the worldwide volume and quality of surgical randomized controlled trials. The second recommends extending the indications for islet cell autotransplantation. The review article deals with the present status of organ bioengineering and regeneration.
The moderator for the August journal club is Dr. Suzanne V. Klimberg who is Professor of Surgery and Pathology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She is one of our country's foremost authorities on breast cancer. The featured article is  Axillary Dissection Versus No Axillary Dissection in Older Patients With T1N0 Breast Cancer: 15-Year Results of a Randomized Controlled Trial.
