Health Services Research in the Perioperative Setting: Past-Present-Future
Themed Issue in Anesthesia & Analgesia for March 2022
Traditionally, anesthesiologists are highly involved in basic science, translational, and clinical investigations. However, with the growing complexity of our healthcare system, anesthesiologists' focus is gradually shifting to include health services research (HSR), which examines concepts like costs, quality, delivery, organization, and outcomes of anesthesia and surgical services. Such HSR optimally involves a more collaborative approach and thus has the potential to significantly enhance the care we collectively provide our surgical patients. We are thus pleased to announce a planned HSR themed issue of Anesthesia & Analgesia. We invite you and your colleagues to submit your HSR-focused work, including the following manuscript types:
- Original Clinical Research Report
- Narrative Review Article
- Systematic Review Article
- Special Article
- The Open Mind
