Resources to Support Family Caregivers
Through the years, AJN has published several special supplements, article series, and videos to help nurses teach and support family caregivers, who often lack the information they need to manage the complex care regimens of their family members.
Supporting Family Caregivers: No Longer Home Alone
This series of articles and accompanying videos, produced in cooperation with the AARP Public Policy Institute, aims to help nurses provide caregivers with the tools they need to manage their family member's care. Each article explains the principles nurses should consider and reinforce with caregivers and is accompanied by an instructional video for the caregiver to watch.
Professional Partners Supporting Diverse Family Caregivers Across Settings
This three-part article-video series, designed to help nurses help caregivers, builds on the work addressed in AJN's September 2008 State of the Science report, Professional Partners Supporting Family Caregivers (see below). It is part of a joint initiative, "Professional Partners Supporting Diverse Family Caregivers Across Settings," and was funded by the Jacob and Valeria Langeloth Foundation in collaboration with the AARP Foundation.
State of the Science: Professional Partners Supporting Family Caregivers
AJN partnered with the AARP Foundation, the Council on Social Work Education, the Family Caregiver Alliance, and others to identify and further develop best practices for professionals supporting family caregivers. We share the results in this state-of-the-science report. The project was funded by grants from the John A. Hartford Foundation and the Jacob and Valeria Langeloth Foundation.
