Burnout would be less if we had appropriate staffing and patient assignments and could actually leave work feeling good about the care we deliver (“Acute Care Nurses: An Endangered Species?” The days of feeling “good,” even on the really bad days, just don't happen anymore. I leave feeling guilty for all the things I didn't do—things I used to be able to do in a shift.
