U.S. suicides increase. A recent study of U.S. mortality data by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that the suicide rate among middle-aged adults increased 28% from 1999 to 2010. Rates increased across all geographic areas in 39 states. The findings were reported in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report on May 3 and can be read at
