  • A nasal spray formulation (Narcan Nasal Spray) of the opioid antagonist naloxone has been approved. This formulation is intended to be easier for friends and family members of victims to administer than injectable formulations.
  • Friends and family must receive education regarding the administration of naloxone nasal spray and be told that emergency medical care is necessary even after the naloxone is administered.
