The immediate application of a prosthesis following a limb amputation permits more rapid rehabilitation and fewer postoperative complications. These patients require basically the same kind of observations, emotional support, and nursing measures as patients asing a conventional proshtesis. Their earlier ambulation and shorter hospitalization perhaps make the greatest difference in their postoperative care.
