The New Graduate Speaks -Again

AJN The American Journal of Nursing: September 1969

In 1966, the Journal published this author's report of the initial work experiences and feelings about nursing; of a group of graduates of three California colleges. Two years later, the author questioned these young women to find out whether their feelings about nursing had changed and what their work experiences and pattern of work had been. This article describes her findings which indicate that many of these young graduates feel unable to buck the bureaucracy and have settled for less than they had wished about the kind of nursing they planned on graduation.
