Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Red Cross Nurses! To you we express the deep gratitude and appreciation of the American Red Cross which you have served and are serving. This greeting is sent especially to those of you who have rendered conspicuous service in disaster, on local and state committees, as public health nurses and instructors of classes in home hygiene and care of the sick.
In 1919 the Secretary of War, Mr. Newton D. Baker, Wrote to Mr. Henry P. Davison, then Chairman of the American Red Cross War Council: “There is no greater romance in history than told in the story which shows the work of the American Red Cross.” The personal enthusiasm, sacrifice and labor which went to make up this great tale referred to by Mr. Baker still lives in the work of the Red Cross nurse.
May 1937 bring you greater joy and personal satisfaction through your service to others.
