The term sex and gender cannot be used interchangeably: sex refers to biological characteristics, while gender takes into account both biological and social aspects of how men, women and gender minorities navigate their experiences based on their gender. Hence, ‘sex’ should be replaced with ‘gender’ in all instances. Also, the term Black and Indigenous should be capitalized.
