There are several corrections to this paper [1].

A number of authors in this paper where not recognized when first published under the sole author T. Tsukamoto. The full list of authors including their affiliations are listed below.

Tetsuo Tsukamotoa,b,c, Ryusho Kariyab, Katherine Marksa, Shinichiro Hattorib, Chantelle Ahlenstiela, Geoff Symondsd, Seiji Okadab, and Anthony D. Kellehera

Author affiliations:

aThe Kirby Institute for infection and immunity in society, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, bDivision of Hematopoiesis, Center for AIDS Research, Kumamoto University, Kumamoto, Japan, cDepartment of Immunology, Kindai University Faculty of Medicine, Osaka, Japan, and dCSL Limited, Darlinghurst, New South Wales, Australia.

Because of the change in authorship the first paragraph of acknowledgement section has changed and should now read:

Acknowledgements

We thank Drs Kazuo Matsui and Shoichi Kawakami of Fukuda Hospital, Kumamoto, Japan, for their assistance with cord blood sampling. We thank Ms Michelle Millington and Ms Maureen Boyd of CSL Limited, Darlinghurst, New South Wales, Australia, for providing the lentiviral transduction protocol. We thank Dr Kazuo Suzuki of the Kirby Institute, UNSW, Australia, for his support and help with preparation of the shRNA-expressing lentivirus vectors. TT thanks Enago (www.enago.jp) for the English language review.

Author contributions: Conception or design of the study: T.T., G.S., S.O., A.K.; Performing the experiments: T.T., R.K., K.M., S.H., C.A., S.O.; Data collection: T.T., R.K.; Data analysis and interpretation: T.T.

The fourth sentence of the first paragraph of the Result section:

“PromA-M2, which was designed to have a two or three-base mismatches to the NL4–3 or JRFL version of PromA, respectively [12], has far weaker anti-HIV effects than PromA and thus may serve as a control siRNA [13].”

Should read

“We designed PromA-M2 as a mismatch specificity control for PromA with two or three base pair mismatches to the NL4–3 or JRFL strain sequence of PromA, respectively [12], and have shown that it does not provide significant protection against HIV infection compared to other controls [13].”

There are several figure citation errors. These should be corrected as follows:

Table 1

The figure cited in the legend for Table 1, p. 1743, should be Fig. 1i and not Fig. 2.

Materials and methods section,

5th paragraph (Cord-derived human CD34+ cell transplantation in NOJ mice and HIV-1 infection) p. 1738, 4th sentence, should be Fig. 1i, and not Fig. 2.

9th paragraph (In-vitro generation and HIV-1JRFL infection of macrophages) p. 1738, 3rd sentence, should be Fig. 4a, and not Fig. 3a.

Results section

6th paragraph (CD4+CCR5+ T-cell dynamics after HIV-1JRFL challenge of humanized NOJ mice) p. 1743, 2nd sentence, should be Fig. 2a and b, and not Fig. 4a and b.

6th paragraph (CD4+CCR5+ T-cell dynamics after HIV-1JRFL challenge of humanized NOJ mice) p. 1744, 4th and 6th sentence, should be Fig. 2c, and not Fig. 4c.

7th paragraph (CD4+CCR5+ T-cell dynamics after HIV-1JRFL challenge of humanized NOJ mice) p. 1744, 1st and 2nd sentence, should be Fig. 2d and e, and not Fig. 4d and e.

8th paragraph (Bone marrow CD34+ cell dynamics in humanized NOJ mice after challenge with CCR5-tropic HIV-1JRFL) p. 1744, all figure citations should be to Fig. 3 and the respective figure panel letter instead of Fig. 2 and the panel letter.

9th paragraph (In-vitro-generated PromA-expressing macrophages were resistant to HIV-1JRFL replication) p. 1744, all figure citations should be to Fig. 4 and the respective figure panel letter instead of Fig. 3 and the panel letter.

Discussion section

3rd paragraph, 2nd sentence, p. 1745, should be Fig. 3a, c, d, and e and not Fig. 2a, c, d, and e.

4th paragraph, 1st sentence, p. 1746, should be Fig. 2a-c, and Fig. 2d and e, instead of Fig. 4a-c, and Fig. 4d and e.
