It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Dr Sharon Lewin as a new Editor of AIDS. She is assuming the position of Professor Brigitte Autran who has completed over 15 years of excellent service as an Editor to the journal. Brigitte is leaving to honor other commitments. Dr Lewin is an infectious disease physician and scientist who is internationally renowned for her studies of many aspects of HIV disease and pathogenesis. Her research focuses on strategies to cure HIV infection, immune reconstitution following antiviral therapy, and the effects of HIV/hepatitis B coinfection. Sharon is the first Director of the Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity at the University of Melbourne. In 2014, she was the local co-chair of the 20th International AIDS conference held in Australia.
Brigitte has been an important contributor to the success of AIDS and we thank her for her outstanding help as co-editor in bringing the journal to its current high status in the AIDS field. She is a Professor of Immunology at the Pierre and Marie Curie University and Chair of the Department of Immunology at the Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris. We wish Brigitte all the success in her ongoing and new activities.
We welcome Dr Sharon Lewin to AIDS and look forward to working with her to continue to maintain the high standards of quality and content that have been representative of AIDS for many years.
