Professor Dr. Cun-Zhi Liu is the dean of the School of Acupuncture and Massage at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine; head of the Working Group of the World Stroke Organization on Prevention and Treatment of Stroke and Vascular Dementia with Traditional Chinese Medicine; Chairman of Youth Committee of Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society.

He acquired Doctor Degree in Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2004. The major research interest of Dr. Liu is the specific effects of acupoint and its compatibility mechanism. His group has completed a number of high-quality, multi-center, large-sample randomized controlled trials focusing on knee osteoarthritis, functional dyspepsia and other dominant acupuncture diseases. The mechanism of acupuncture in the treatment of dementia, hypertension and postoperative intestinal paralysis was studied. The results were successively included in the top ten academic advances in traditional Chinese medicine in 2020 and 2021. He has published 347 papers in Ann Intern Med, Arthritis Rheumatol, Theranostics, Pain, Hypertension, Stroke and other journals, and has been consecutively selected as China's most Cited Scholars in Elsevier 2020 and 2021. His group won 10 provincial and ministerial awards, was authorized 7 national patents, formulated 9 industry standards, issued 4 expert consensus, and compiled 8 national planning/innovation textbooks. 

Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine is issuing a call for papers for a special topic addressing "Acupuncture Therapy and Autonomic Neural Regulation" .​​​

Under the guidance of Guest Editor Cun-Zhi Liu, MD, PhD, the special topic will explore the mechanism and rule of acupuncture targeting autonomic nervous system. ​​​​

Main Purpose of the Special Topic:​

The mechanism of acupuncture therapy on autonomic nervous system, desired article types are original articles and review articles

Outline:

  1. Review or insight of the relationship between acupuncture therapy and autonomic nervous system
  2. Effects of different acupoints and different stimulation methods on autonomic nervous system
  3. Mechanism of acupuncture on autonomic nervous system in varied diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, functional gastrointestinal diseases, pain diseases, etc.
