Alzheimer's Care Quarterly: October-December 2005 - Volume 6 - Issue 4 - p 335-340 Buy Abstract Attempts to provide gardens in healthcare settings, particularly gardens for aging populations, are often met with frustration. Even when groups struggle with similar issues, lessons learned by one group are rarely passed on to another. Successfully incorporating nature in healthcare settings is predicated on enhanced communication. The greatest need at this time is to understand the value of a collaborative approach to healthcare design—one that incorporates a working team of designers, healthcare professionals, and other advocates. Communication and a close collaborative working relationship are paramount in creating an effective and responsive design and garden that will be used by residents, staff, and families with great regularity. ©2005Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Inc.
