Joel B. Spoonheim, M.P.A., is the director of Health Promotion for HealthPartners. The department creates and deploys Web, telephonic, and on-site solutions that support employees improving well-being. He is responsible for product innovations and operations. Previously, Mr. Spoonheim worked for Healthways as the founding staff member and executive director for the Blue Zones Project. This city-by-city program coordinates initiatives to change people's daily environments to make healthy choices easy. Passionate about community and organization transformation, he has worked for health care companies, city governments, and nonprofits, directing major initiatives that require engaging diverse stakeholders and complex problem solving.
Nico P. Pronk, Ph.D., FACSM, FAWHP, is vice president and chief science officer at HealthPartners in Minneapolis, MN, where he also is a senior research investigator at the HealthPartners Research Foundation. Dr. Pronk is an adjunct professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Harvard University School of Public Health, where he teaches and conducts research in worker health protection and promotion. He is a past president of the International Association for Worksite Health Promotion, an ACSM affiliate society, coauthor of the IAWHP Online Certificate Course, editor of ACSM's Worksite Health Handbook, 2nd edition, and an associate editor for the ACSM's Health & Fitness Journal®.
