Understand how some of the trends have changed over time in terms of ranking. Edward T. Howley, Ph.D., FACSM, served as a faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies at the University of Tennessee Knoxville from 1970 to 2007. He taught undergraduate courses in fitness testing and prescription, and undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise physiology. He was recognized for his teaching throughout his career. He served as president of the American College of Sports Medicine from 2002 to 2003 and was editor-in-chief of ACSM’s Health & Fitness Journal® from 2005 to 2011.
