Dr. Howley: In my May/June 1997 column dealing with the differences between free weights and Nautilus machine resistance training programs, I misused biomechanics terminology in my description of these programs. Ralph Carpinelli, Ed.D., a member of our advisory board, was kind enough to provide the following clarification of the terminology that should be used when discussing resistance training programs.
