The figure shows that exercise prescription for strength and endurance training are well documented for untrained individuals in nondisease states. Unfortunately, for the patient with DMD, the data necessary to define exercise prescription for any of these functional properties are not presently known as are the responses to exercise by the dystrophic muscle. This can be corrected by conducting appropriate studies in dystrophic mice.
