On behalf of the Singapore Medical Association, it gives me great pleasure to announce the recipients of the 2019 Singapore Medical Journal Best Research Paper Award.

The following four criteria were adopted by the judging panel in determining the winning articles:

  1. Potential impact on clinical practice;
  2. Rigorous study design/research methodologies;
  3. Comprehensive data analysis and balanced discussion; and
  4. Quality of data interpretation.

My deepest appreciation goes to our panel of judges for their diligent and conscientious efforts: Dr Chia Pow-Li, Prof Wilfred CG Peh, Dr Pwee Keng Ho, Dr NV Ramani, A/Prof Sim Kang, Prof Tan Huay Cheem, Prof Teo Eng Kiong, Dr Wang Yu Tien and Prof Wong Wai Keong.

The award winners received a commemorative trophy and certificates, which were presented during the Singapore Medical Association Annual Dinner held at Sheraton Towers Singapore on 6 November 2022.
