Scope of Journal

Aims and Scope of the Journal

The aim of JOMFP is to cover the multifaceted aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. It offers to give a comprehensive exposure to oral pathology and oral cancer, and also immunology, microbiology, biochemistry, pathology, genetics and forensic dentistry related to the oro-facial region.

Original research which helps in understanding the natural history of the diseases, pathogenesis and contributes to the diagnostic and prognostic algorithms is valued. Reproducible techniques and methods of advancing methodology in the field of Oral Pathology will be prioritized. Articles on original, clinical, diagnostic and experimental studies (in vivo and in vitro) offering good scientific exposure, incorporating recent advances and latest techniques would be considered.

A relevant practical and comprehensive compilation of literature pertaining to the present times and concept is a part of requirement of the article. Good comprehensive reviews on relevant topics with highlights on recent advances would be given precedence.

Manifestations of different diseases in orofacial regions with elucidation of pathogenesis and histopathological features, a clear coverage of imaging details, supporting laboratory values and studies related to the case are sought for. Reports featuring unique and rare cases with strong basis for diagnosis and a good description and discussion with at least the minimum prescribed diagnostic aids, recent trends in management would be preferred.

Histopathological diagnosis has remained a gold standard for many decades. It gains strength today with assistance from ancillary techniques based on molecular and cytogenetic advances. Valuable clues in diagnostic pathology still remain as acumen. Enigmatic Morphoinsight and Know your Field attempts to satisfy the urge to gain the skill for histopathological diagnosis.

Contributions related to head and neck pathology from allied branches and disciplines other than the faculty of oral pathology are welcome.
