The Marine Medicine Society was founded in 1976 under the dynamic leadership of Surgeon Rear Admiral DRF Pinto PVSM, AVSM (Retd), the then Director Medical Services (Navy) to further the subject of Underwater Medicine and Hyperbaric Medicine. Over the years the ambit of the society has grown with the addition of fields like Nuclear medicine, Aviation Medicine, Human Machine Interface and Safety in the Naval environment, etc. The Marine Medical Society holds an annual conference, where delegates from the fields of Medicine, Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine and other fields join to deliberate on scientific matters.
