Dr. F. D. Mirza initiated the idea for the society of prosthodontists in an informal meeting. AADHOC committee comprising Dr. T.M. Udani, Dr. F.D. Mirza, and Dr. K. Bhargava was formed to initiate the proceedings. Publicity was done through newspapers to invite all the dental surgeons in India interested in Prosthetic Dentistry to attend the Indian Dental Association Annual Conference to be held in Ahmedabad in 1973. The Indian Prosthodontic Society (IPS) was officially formed in this meeting. The IPS constitution was framed and accepted. Dr.T.M.Udani, Founder President, Dr. F.D. Mirza, founder Secretary-cum-Treasurer and Dr.K. Bhargava, editor were unanimously elected. The first scientific conference of IPS was held at Madras, where Dr. E.G.R.
