Asian Association of Transfusion Medicine (AATM) has its presence in 20 countries and focuses on improving Transfusion and Transplantation medicine in the Asian Region.Member countries include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Iran, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Laos, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Timor Leste, Turkey and AATM is registered in New Delhi, India.
There are over 1020 members from over 35 countries.
For the advancement of Transfusion Medicine AATM undertakes several activities with an annual calendar . Wet Workshops are conducted and fellowships are given to aspiring Transfusion Medicine Trainees and Specialists every year.
AATM co-ordinates with other professional bodies like the AABB for conduct of conference and other educational programs. AATM conducts an annual conference in one of its member countries. AATM-AABB Blood Bank certification & distant learning program are at a very advanced stage of implementation. AATM also collaborates with WHO-SEARO.
AATM has inter organizational Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) with Governments in many countries. These include MOUs with National Blood Transfusion Services, Colombo, Govt of Srilanka, Shanghai Blood centre which is WHO collaboration centre, National Blood Transfusion Council, Ministry of Health, Govt of India,Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization, Tehran, Govt of Iran.
AATM-EQAS program: This is offered Free to all Indian members through the National Accreditation Board of Hospitals and Health care providers, Quality council of India which is a member of ISQUA.
AATM-NBTC Blood Donor Counselor Program: AATM in association with National blood Transfusion council has conducted 16 Training programs with special focus on HIV counseling. This is an ongoing program.
