About the Journal
Endodontology, a publication of Indian Endodontic Society (IES), is a peer-reviewed print + online Quarterly journal. The journal’s full text is available online at http://www.endodontologyonweb.org. The journal allows free access (Open Access) to its contents and permits authors to self-archive final accepted version of the articles on any OAI-compliant institutional / subject-based repository.
It was started in 1989 and is being published regularly till date. The journal is the first ever publication in the specialty of Endodontics from India. The journal aims at improving the standard of Endodontic research, teaching and clinical practice in India. It is dedicated to the continuing professional development in the specialty of Endodontics. It is widely acclaimed for its scientific content, presentation style and regularity of publication. It is distributed to all the members of IES, all the dental college libraries and Endodontic Societies of different countries. Eminent specialists both from India and abroad are on its Scientific Advisory Committee and the Editorial Board. It is registered with Indian National Scientific Documentation Center (INSDOC) and National Library at Calcutta. Endodontogy is indexed in IndMED, the database of Indian Biomedical Journals, maintained by national Informatics Centre, Ministry of Information Technology, Govt. of India. The Journal is also listed with Indian National Scientific Documentation Centre (INSDOC), Qutub Institutional Area, New Delhi-110016 and English Serial Divison, National Library, Kolkata. The journal invites research studies, interesting case reports and analytical review articles as well as information regarding latest instruments, materials and events for consideration of publication in the journal.

Digital Archiving
Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.
Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.
CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.
Ahead of Print policy
Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.
Advertisements
While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:
- "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
- The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
- Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.
Scope of the journal
The journal of Endodontology focuses on and publishes evidence-based articles related to health, ethical and social issues in the field of Endodontics. Manuscripts presenting the most recent findings or ideas devoted exclusively to the field of endodontics with clinical interest and implications pertaining to original research articles, systematic reviews, and case reports will be given preference. The journal’s regular subscribers include general dentists and endodontists.
It is a peer-reviewed online journal with a quarterly print issue. The journal is integrated by an editorial advisory board encompassing international and national experts/leaders in the field of endodontics. On average, each issue comprises of eight to ten original articles, two to four case reports, and/or one to two systematic reviews. Articles are published in English. All articles follow the established ethical standards/policies and are in accordance with the “uniform requirements for a manuscript submitted to biomedical Journals” and ICMJE guidelines. Clinical trials and systematic reviews are published in accordance with the CONSORT and STROBE guidelines, respectively.
The journal encourages submissions related to innovative developments and research in endodontic diagnosis and differential diagnosis of orofacial pain, root canal morphology, vital pulp therapy, root canal instrumentation; disinfection; and obturation, root reparative procedures, surgical treatment of root canal systems, intentional replantation/transplantation, management of traumatic injuries, bleaching of discolored dentin and enamel, treatment procedures related to coronal restorations by means of post and/or cores involving the root canal space, and regenerative endodontics.
