Asian Journal of Transfusion Science (AJTS)Print ISSN: 0973-6247, E-ISSN: 1998-3565) is publication of Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohemtology (ISBTI), Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine (ISTM). It is the extension of ‘Transfusion Bulletin’ of ISBTI which was published in the year 1980 and it disseminated the knowledge of transfusion science to all members of ISBTI for 26 years. The bulletin was circulated Semiannual on regular basis among more than two thousand members of ISBTI, all medical college libraries and all blood banks (about 2200 in number) in India.

Digital Archiving

Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.

Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.

CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.

Advertisements

While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:

  • "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
  • The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
  • Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.


Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and ​Immunohemtology
ISBTI is the only organization in the country working for promotion of Voluntary Blood Donation and supply safe blood in the country. Society was established in 1972 at PGI, Chandigarh. The Society has done admirable job by banning the professional blood donor through judgment of Honorable Supreme Court in 1996, established National and State Blood Transfusion Council and assisted the Govt. of India for Implementing National Blood Policy.

This is a national organization for Blood Banking, Transfusion Medicine and Donor Recruitment activities in India. Established on 28th December 1973 in Chandigarh, the society has risen to a national level with about 2000 members on its rolls. The society is registered under the Society Registration Act as a Voluntary Organization.
 

Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine

The Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine (ISTM) serves as a platform for scientific discussions, deliberations, exchange of ideas, teaching and training with regard to transfusion medicine pertaining to Indian context. The society also coordinates with internationally recognized organizations in this field to improve the scientific environment in the field. The society aims to function as an Indian society for all scientific professionals involved in transfusion medicine and foster scientific investigation, clinical application, education and exchanges of information and ideas, relating to transfusion medicine and allied fields in clinical and laboratory medicine. Society is inclined to develop and publish guidelines and recommendations in the field of transfusion medicine as well.

Scope of the Journal

Asian Journal of Transfusion Science publishes original peer reviewed articles, case reports, illustration and letter to editor on all aspects of transfusion medicine. The scope of the journal covers basic blood banking which includes blood collection, processing, apheresis, blood group serology and other aspects of immunohaematology, transfusion transmitted infections, quality assurance and haemovigilance. The clinical aspects of transfusion, transfusion safety, and transfusion support in different clinical scenarios, stem cells and latest developments in the field of transfusion medicine are also covered. The journal is a special window particularly for the Asian scientists to put forward their scientific materials to the world community. This journal aspires to become a mouthpiece of the scientific community from the developing world.
