Indian Psychiatric Society has total of five zones under its wing. The Western Zonal Branch of Indian Psychiatric Society has been in existence for nearly five decades. From its first conference in 1970 in a small town of Maroli, Gujarat it will now be hosting its 50th Annual Conference at Thane in 2019. The IPSWZB has members who are mental health professionals from the 3 states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa. The zone is very active in conducting several academic activities like a Midterm CME, Annual Conference and PG CME every year. It carries out community awareness programs throughout the year and has received the Best Zone Award on several occasions at the national level.

The 3 state branches are further divided into 13 branches each of which does propagation of mental health. The zone has several sub committees which look after the functioning and objectives of the zone. Each branch and subcommittee submits its annual report of the various activities undertaken throughout the year to the zonal branch. IPS WZB promotes excellence in research in young scholars and honors lifetime achievement of senior professionals by providing yearly national awards in the field of psychiatry and mental health, during the annual zonal conference.

Annals of Indian Psychiatry is the official journal of the western zonal branch. It is available as print and online and can be easily accessed atwww.anip.co.in. The zone has its own interactive website and archives section which gives all recent updates and information to its members with a dream of making mental health a top priority in the minds of all.
