Collapse Box

Treatment of memory disorders in traumatic brain injury has benefited from advances in knowledge of neural systems in differentiating sources of memory deficits. Replacing the previously narrow focus on reduction of impairment, effective assessment and treatment planning should be based on differentiation of primary cognitive impairment sources and treatment designed to utilize effective disability-oriented methods. Disability reduction treatment approaches include specific training in strategies for rehearsal and encoding and increased utilization of a wide variety of external aids.
