ONE-STOP SHOPPING FOR PERSONAL LISTENING TECHNOLOGY

Doppler Labs (www.hereplus.me) recently released Here One™, an all-in-one wireless listening system. Here One™ includes a pair of wireless smart earbuds and a smart phone app that serves as the remote control of the ear pieces. Together, these devices enable users to stream music and answer calls wirelessly. It can also amplify human speech, allowing users to better listen to conversations in noisy settings such as parties, restaurants, etc. It also features a smart noise filtering system to tune out and regulate background noise such as ambulance sirens, and to layer streamed audio over real-world noise.

JACOTI LOLA GETS AN UPDATE

Jacoti Lola Classroom (www.jacoti.com/lola) version 2.1.2. is the latest update of Jacoti's assistive listening solutions. The new version features significant enhancements including lower latency and improved audio quality. The 2.1.2 update also features connectivity with non-iOS devices like personal computers and TVs. It is compatible with line-level cable connection using a line-level adapter and a 3.5 mm audio cable that can be connected to a computer's audio output. This version also amplifies external sound picked up directly from its microphone. It works as easy as placing the device close to a speaker and adjusting the Lola system's audio level. However, this update may not be compatible with the solution's earlier versions.

LEASING HEARING AIDS MEANS MORE PEOPLE HEARING

Epic Hearing Healthcare (EPIC; www.epichearing.com) introduced HearTEK leasing — a way for people to lease brand-name hearing technology with the option to trade up to a later model after 18 months. EPIC offers four levels of monthly payment: basic, standard, advanced, and premium. No application fee or security deposit is required. Those interested in leasing may select well-suited hearing aids with the help of a licensed hearing aid professional. Pricing plans available in HearTEK Leasing, which are spread across 30 months, enable patients to finance a hearing aid of up to $5,000.

SIVANTOS UNVEILS LONG-LASTING HEARING AID BATTERY

Sivantos (www.sivantos.com) introduced Signia Cellion, a lithium-ion-powered rechargeable hearing aid that provides up to 24 hours of continuous use on a single charge. The battery is completely sealed within the unit so users do not need to fumble with battery doors, etc. The hearing aid will be offered in 5px and 7px performance levels, and producers are currently seeking an IP68 rating–the second highest possible rating of protection from water and dust. The Signia Cellion features micro USB charging for those on the go and a 30-minute “powercharge” option which provides seven hours of listening capability.
