Westone Laboratories, a manufacturer of custom hearing protection, has released three new digital electronic hearing protection devices specifically for hunters and sport shooters.

The DefendEar Digital combines a removable digital module with a specialized custom silicone earpiece. Westone offers the Digital 1 ($1,295) for sport shooters, the Digital 2 ($1,495) for target and field shooters, and the Hunter model ($1,895), which includes a button that can reduce wind noise.

New Smaller Hearing Aid

The Quantum product family has a new addition. The micro CIC, available with Quantum 20, 12, and 6, is the smallest Quantum developed by the hearing aid manufacturer, Unitron. The hearing aid's small size is achieved by transducer technology, featuring smaller microphones and receivers.

Low-Cost Amplified Telephones

Telecommunications Access Iowa, a telecommunications equipment distribution program of the Iowa Utilities Board, will allow Iowa residents to access amplified telephones and accessories from Amplicom at minimal cost.

Amplicom is a telephone communications company that provides solutions for those with hearing loss. Its PowerTel series of amplified telephones are known for their induction level, low distortion, and no interference.

Through the Iowa program, eligible residents may receive a voucher from the Iowa Utilities Board for approximately 95 percent of the average cost of specialized telephone equipment.
