In keeping with our goal to aid surgeons master challenging surgical techniques, the December issue of Techniques in Orthopaedics featured a special extensively illustrated article, "The Periacetabular Osteotomy."  Having performed the osteotomy 500 times over thirty years, the senior author Joel Matta has evolved his technique and drastically reduced his operative time. He and his co-authors provide a highly detailed, step-by-step description of the surgical Technique, each step illustrated by intra-operative color photos, radiographic images and plastic bone models.

The "Tips & Pearls Section" is intended to be a forum devoted to the sharing of new developments, ideas, designs, homemade devices, and "tricks" for easier orthopaedic surgery.

To submit Tips & Pearls, please follow the manuscript submission guidelines in the TiO author instructions, available under "For Authors."
