Abstract

Due to a different pathophysiology, childhood glaucoma surgery differs considerably from that of the adult. Indeed, goniotomy and trabeculotomy, currently used for infantile/congenital glaucoma are usually unsuccessful for adults. In this paper, we review the techniques, as well as the indications, complications, results, and historical perspectives concerning these 2 procedures. More recently, endoscopic goniotomy and cyclophotoablation have also been reported as successful surgical options in some pediatric glaucoma clinical scenarios.
