Abstract

One of the problems in mounting a trial of treatment of back pain is the lack of suitable outcome measures. This paper describes the development and validation of a questionnaire designed to measure selfrated disability due to back pain. The questionnaire is short, simple, sensitive, and reliable. It would be suitable for use in future trials of treatment.
