Thank you for the insightful piece in the October 10 issue about the challenges of making progress in diagnosing and treating prostate cancer (“Prostate Cancer: New 5-Point Plan to Jump-Start Progress” by Peggy Eastman). Men are often extremely reluctant to talk about this disease, which is why I've been sharing my experiences since my own prostate cancer diagnosis through a personal blog, “My New York Minute.” Since joining the Prostate Cancer Foundation, we've worked to issue a simple call to men and families: make prostate cancer something to talk about. Through greater awareness for the need for progress, and with more men talking about their own journey, I hope that we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of men with this disease.
