Stress fractures in the feet of athletes seldom involve the first metatarsal, with few documented case reports. We report a case of stress fracture in the base of the first metatarsal in a professional fencer with the typical scintigraphic appearance of a fracture line clearly demonstrated by selective pinhole imaging.
