Abstract

summary: The majority of studies that have examined the association between physical activity and mortality have referred to physical activity in the context of aerobic exercise. Recent evidence indicates that stronger persons live longer independent of aerobic fitness level, and that the greatest health-protective benefits are evident when progressing from low to moderate strength levels.
