Abstract

ABSTRACT: VOLLEYBALL IS AN EXPLOSIVE SPORT IN WHICH A SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE IS LARGELY DETERMINED BY THE CAPACITY TO DEMONSTRATE REPEATED BOUTS OF MAXIMAL OR NEAR-MAXIMAL POWER. GIVEN THE RELATIVELY HIGH LEVELS OF FORCE BEING GENERATED AND ABSORBED, THE RISK FOR INJURY EXISTS WHEN PLAYING. THIS ARTICLE FOCUSES ON WEIGHTLIFTING AS THE PRIMARY MEANS WITH WHICH TO ADDRESS THOSE ATTRIBUTES THAT UNDERLIE PERFORMANCE AND REDUCE THE CHANCE FOR INJURY.
