DOWN SYNDROME (DS) OCCURS IN APPROXIMATELY 1 IN 800 BIRTHS AND PRESENTS A NUMBER OF DEVELOPMENTAL, PHYSICAL, MEDICAL, AND COGNITIVE CHALLENGES. THIS PRESENTS UNIQUE FITNESS NEEDS FOR THE INDIVIDUAL WITH DS. DESPITE THE BENEFITS OF EXERCISE, THIS IS A POPULATION THAT HAS BEEN POORLY STUDIED, AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE PRACTITIONER ARE NOT EXISTENT.
