summary: Consuming traditional sports drinks are an effective means of replenishing fluid and restoring intramuscular glycogen. However, there is a growing body of evidence that suggests that the addition of protein may further augment the rate of glycogen repletion as well as promote skeletal muscle recovery and repair.
