Greetings From the Editor

As Editor-In-Chief I want to welcome you to the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research (JSCR). We have made dramatic changes over the last couple of years culminating with our move to publishing 12 issues a year. With this increased number of journals we will dramatically reduce in press time and gain quick exposure with LWW’s e ahead of print process for accepted papers.

The JSCR has a world class group of Associate Editors and we pride ourselves on treating each manuscript as it if were our own. We publish more applied sport science and conditioning papers than any other journal in the world. In addition our moves to make each article to have high applied impact to target audiences beyond the readership underscores the National Strength and Conditioning’s resolve to put more knowledge into the hands of the end users from strength and conditioning specialists to coaches to personal trainers to athletes. From studies on sets and reps for optimal resistance training programs to applied science of sport to nutritional interactions with training, manuscripts seek to improved the knowledge based practices in the world of strength and conditioning and improve our understanding of sport science. I urge you to look below at the many attractive features of the journal and support it with manuscript submissions and membership in order to continue the great progress we have made over the past decade. I thank each of you and wish you all the best in your work and research. Remember it is the individual athlete or client we are trying to help in our quest for excellence.

Kind Regards,

William J. Kraemer, Ph.D., CSCS*D, FNSCA
Editor-In-Chief

Special Call for Papers

In order to support the mission of the Journal of Strength and Conditioning, we will issue a monthly “call for papers” on various topics that have a special request or interest by our readership. These papers will be reviewed and be published in a block when the peer review process is completed.  When submitting these papers on Editorial Manager please note that your submission is in response to a specific special call as noted below. Return to the JSCR home page regularly to read new calls for papers that might be of special interest to you. While the journal will continue to accept submissions on all topics related to the JSCR’s mission, these calls are used to stimulate scientists who have data on these special topics of interest to the NSCA membership and help to motivate them to work up the data and get it published along with other investigators interested in the same topic.

Other Submission Notes: The JSCR is also interested in publishing symposia that have been presented and is of interest and related to the mission of the journal, this would include a brief overview and then 3 or 4 papers of high merit presented at a scientific meeting (e.g., the NSCA, ACSM, AAPHERD annual meetings). These papers will be reviewed for merit and the leader of the symposium should contact Dr William Kraemer william.kraemer@uconn.edu to discuss its relevance to the journal and the NSCA membership and to formulate a submission process and timeline.
