Dr. Liu was born in Taiwan and grew up in southern Africa as the son of a diplomat. He completed his undergraduate work in chemical engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and completed his PhD in chemical/biomedical engineering at Rice University. Dr. Liu then graduated from the Yale University School of Medicine and completed his residency in neurological surgery at the University of Southern California. He has been part of the faculty of the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Southern California since 2003. Dr. Liu’s clinical interests include the neurosurgical treatment of epilepsy, pituitary and anterior skull base tumors, cerebrovascular disease, and adult brain tumors. Dr. Liu currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons as Chair of the International Committee. In addition, he serves as a neurosurgical consultant to the Department of Athletics at USC, including to the USC Football Trojans.
