Cervical Perimedullary Arteriovenous Shunts

Neurosurgery

3-D fusion images generated using CT, MRI, and rotational angiography data. The cranial side of the objects is displayed at the bottom of the animation.
In this animation, right suboccipital craniectomy with C1 hemilaminectomy was performed. By making the dura mater (light yellow) and spinal cord (yellow) transparent, the positions of the shunting points fed by the anterior spinal and radiculomedullary arteries were visualized on the ventral side of the spinal cord. Finally, the object was rotated to show the anterior spinal artery, shunting points, and aneurysmal dilation on the ventral side of the spinal cord, as presented in Figure 2B.

Basilar Invagination and Atlanto-Axial Dislocation Video 1

Neurosurgery

This video demonstrates the technique of DCER in a patient with C1 arch not assimilated. Here, first the margin of foramen magnum is decompressed, after which the spacers are applied within the C1/C2 spaces. This is followed by a technique of compression and extension leading to reduction of AAD.

Basilar Invagination and Atlanto-Axial Dislocation Video 2

Neurosurgery

This video demonstrates the technique of DCER in a patient with C1 arch assimilated with occiput. Here, first the rim of foramen magnum is decompressed after which bilateral spacers are applied. This is followed by a technique of compression and extension of occiput over C2 leading to reduction of AAD.
