June Is Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune neuromuscular disease that affects all ages, races, and genders. MG symptoms include weakness in muscles that control eye movements and eyelids, chewing, swallowing, coughing, facial expressions, arm and leg movements, and breathing.
June marks the 14th annual awareness month during which the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) promotes awareness to professional healthcare providers, caregivers, and patients. This year's theme is “United For a Cure. A World Without MG.” It is a call to action for members of the MG community and their supporters to increase awareness throughout the nation.
* To learn more about MG and how you can help, visit myasthenia.org or call 1-800-541-5454.
