I read with interest the article about medical foods in the October/Novem-ber 2012 issue of Neurology Now (http://bit.ly/TusPOA). Physicians are reluctant to recommend anything that is not approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration or that has not undergone rigorous testing. Who can blame them?
I recently formed a tax-exempt foundation with a number of colleagues for the purpose of testing medical foods in clinical trials. We hope to identify what type of benefit these products might have for various medical conditions. We plan to operate without funds from the pharmaceutical companies so as not to be influenced in our results.
Please keep our foundation in mind regarding further articles on medical foods.
