Rajiv Kumar, MD, Distinguished Investigator and the Ruth and Vernon Taylor Professor of Medicine and of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Mayo Clinic, was selected to receive the American College of Physicians (ACP)'s John Phillips Memorial Award for Outstanding Work in Clinical Medicine. Dr. Kumar's research has included a focus on the regulation of phosphate, calcium, and vitamin D, and his work has advanced the understanding of chronic kidney disease–mineral and bone disorder. The award, which was established in 1929, is named for the late Dr. John Phillips, former Governor and Regent of the ACP.
