Abstract: A nurse relays her experience with the death of her 10-year-old nephew, and offers resources for helping children and families facing death.

Sadly, the leading cause of death between infancy and age 15 is cancer. This nurse experienced the death of her 10 year old nephew from Ewing's Sarcoma. She offers insights for helping children and families facing death.

Deborah S. Rushing, DNP, RN, is an Assistant Professor at Troy University School of Nursing, Troy, Alabama, with expertise in nursing education, adult health, geriatric nursing, and home health care. She volunteers as a sexual assault nurse examiner and consultant on various health boards.
