Thinking about a parish nurse ministry? Eleven parish nurses share the ups and downs of getting started, revealing 5 phases of program development.

Sarah P. Farrell, PhD, RN, is associate professor and director of the undergraduate program m the University of Virginia School of Nursing, Char-lottesville, Virginia. Sarah mentors students participating in the distinguished major program. She attends Christ Church Episcopal in Richmond, Virginia.

Dawn B. Rigney, PhD, RN, is associate professor at the University of Virginia School of Nursing, Charlottesville, Virginia. She teaches community health and attends St. Thomas Catholic Church.
