The CAP / ASCCP LAST Project’s consensus recommendations propose standardized diagnostic terminology for HPV-associated squamous lesions of the lower anogenital tract, which will lead to enhanced communication between pathologists and other clinicians, more effective patient management, and improved patient outcomes. The LAST Project terminology for histopathology is analogous to The Bethesda System for gynecologic cytology for lesions sharing common biology across all lower anogenital sites.
The ASCCP, along with the ACS and ASCP released new Cervical Cancer Screening Guidelines for the prevention and early detection of cervical cancer.
